FALI Annual Conference - Pre Con Training Program
May 5-7, 2022, Tampa, FL
Sponsored by The Florida Association of Licensed Investigators for their members. The 8-hour program is the full certification course for the FTER Method and processes. It is part 1, 2, and 3 of the training curriculum. Successful completion of all three parts combined with testing can lead to earning the CFI-FTER designation as a Certified Forensic Interviewer – FTER Method.
The FTER Method is grounded in the theoretical understanding of testimonial evidence in its various forms. Practitioners must assimilate a comprehensive understanding of testimonial evidence relative to its creation and potential contamination for the purpose of recovery and analysis. The investigator must engage in critical thinking while evaluating testimonial evidence, as well as preparing for and conducting the interview. The professional interviewer must understand the depths of testimonial evidence in order to properly pursue recovery.
Training Objectives:
- Train participants in the FTER forensic approach to interviewing and analysis of testimonial evidence
- Gain an expert depth of understanding of truth defined by the relative perceptions and interpretations of witnesses
- Recognize the anatomy of a lie and multiple motivations of deception
- Enhance the interview process and increase the level of information recovered from witnesses
- Earn and secure the nationally recognized designation of CFI-FTER as a Certified Forensic Interviewer.

FOI - Fraternal Order of Investigators Conference - Texas
June 24 - Kerrville, Texas - Successfully Delivered
1 day FAST TRACK Component Method of Criminal Defense Investigation & Case Management training. Combined wiht the online testing, the training will satisfy the academic requirements for the Board Certified Criminal Defense Investigator (CCDI) designation. All successful participants will be certified in the Component Method.
Forensic Firearms Investigator Course
September 3 - Stuart, Florida - Successfully Delivered
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: Participants will study the various types of firearms, operation, functional components, ammunition, evidence marks, cartridges, bullets, casings, primers, powder fired and unfired. The course will elevate the investigators knowledge of firearms necessary to faciliate working with experts and attorneys during the course of a professional criminal investigation. This course can be taken individually or as part of the complete forensic series. Completion of all four of the forensic science training programs will qualify participants to take the test and earn the Certified Forensic Science Investigator (CFSI) Designation.

The basic applications of blood spatter and blood detection are examined as they apply to criminal defense investigation. The investigator’s ability to utilize forensic experts is emphasized.
Topics will include:
• Blood Detection and Blood Spatter Analysis, Case Review
• Identifying types of Specific Patterns and Blood Stains
• Documentation and photography
• Crime Scene Reconstruction
• Blood Detection Theory
• Hands on demonstrations and testing for blood.
Public Defender Investigator Training Program

The 10-12 month tuition free training program is hosted and sponsored by the Public Defender, 19th Judicial Circuit, State of Florida. The program is open to residents of the 19th Judicial Circuit including St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee and Indian River Counties. The program combines classroom instruction focused upon the Component Method of Criminal Defense Investigation & Case Management, Homicide Investigaiton, Sex Crimes Investigation, and Surveillance. Participants are required to attend classes every other Tuesday at the Fort Pierece office and are also assigned to the investigations division. Intern investigators are assigned field investigations within their county of residence and are required to conduct intake interviews of defendants at the county jail 2-3 days a week.
